Cape Breton Regional Police arrested a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for assault and break and enter charges Saturday night.

Police say Justin Andrew MacKinnon, 30, was arrested around 6:35 p.m.

Officers say after pulling over MacKinnon in his vehicle, he fled on foot and was arrested a short time later in a home on MacGuire Drive.

A warrant was issued for MacKinnon’s arrest on Feb. 19 after being charged with assault with a weapon, uttering a threat to cause death and break and enter.

MacKinnon now faces an additional charge of flight from police.

MacKinnon was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Center and will appear in provincial court on March 14.
