Miners killed while working in Nova Scotia's coal mines are being remembered today.
Miners' Memorial Day -- or Davis Day, as it's commonly known -- was established in memory of William Davis.
Davis was a coal miner who was shot and killed near New Waterford on June 11th, 1925 during a strike over wages.
Frank Corbett, the NDP member of the legislature for Cape Breton Centre, says it's important that Davis's efforts to protest the poor treatment of his fellow miners aren't forgotten.
