HALIFAX -- The drunk driving case against a former member of the Nova Scotia legislature who is serving jail time for fraud has been delayed until Jan. 27.
Trevor Zinck has yet to enter pleas on charges of impaired driving and having a breathalyzer reading above the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
He was arrested Oct. 2 after police stopped a vehicle on the street where he lives in the Halifax area.
Defence lawyer Lyle Howe appeared on Zinck's behalf in provincial court today to request the delay, telling the judge he required further discussions with his client on how to proceed.
Zinck, who used to represent Dartmouth North, was the last of four ex-politicians to be sentenced in the legislature's expense scandal.
He was sentenced Oct. 9 in Nova Scotia Supreme Court to four months in jail and a year's probation on charges of fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust.
Howe said outside court that Zinck expects to have completed his jail time on those charges before the next court date.
