Residents who live in the neighbourhood around Fredericton’s Golf Club Road say their homes, vehicles and personal safety are in jeopardy due to flying golf balls.

The Fredericton Golf Club has already started making changes based on that feedback. For one, the physical layout of holes close to the road have been changedto limit the possibility of a ball flying off course.

“They’ve rearranged the actual tee itself, so instead of it going parallel to the side of the road, they’ve changed it so whomever is shooting the golf ball, they’ll be shooting in a different direction,” says Fredericton City Councillor David Kelly.

Signs warning drivers about crossing golf carts were alsoinstalled by the city this week. Club officials are also considering adding more protective netting between the course and street.
