Some men in Halifax stepped out of their regular workout routine Saturday afternoon to raise money for an important cause.

The fundraiser is called, ‘Bare All for the Barre.’

Barre fitness is a full body workout, inspired by a dancer’s moves.

The class is increasingly popular with women, but Saturday at Cyclone Group Fitness, 15 men and their supporters took part, as a way to raise money for prostate cancer.

“It’s a really, really hard work out,” explains Cyclone Group Fitness owner, Elana Liberman, “which was one of the ideas, was to get guys to try something that’s out of their comfort zone, so they are working very hard. Most of them won’t be able to walk tomorrow, ha-ha.”

Saturday’s event was the fundraiser’s kickoff.

The main event will take place in September, with more than 100 participants expected.
