Investigators are reaching out to the public for help in solving the murder of Jason MacCullough.

The 19-year-old was found dead on a paved path between 100 and 104 Pinecrest Drive in Dartmouth around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 28, 1999.

Police believe the MacCullough was passing through the area while walking home and used the well-known shortcut between the buildings.

Police believe there were several people in the area at the time of the homicide and strongly believe there were witnesses.

Investigators continue to urge these people to come forward and report anything they remember about that day, no matter how small the detail.

Officers believe MacCullough’s death was a random act of violence as there is no indication he was involved in any type of criminal activity.

Sunday marked the 17th anniversary of his death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division at 902-490-5333 or Crime Stoppers.
