A Halifax teenager is facing multiple charges after an armed robbery resulted in a stabbing Saturday night.

Police say 18-year-old Christopher Norman Slaunwhite of Halifax has been charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, wearing a disguise and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 2000 block of Brunswick Street in Halifax around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Police say it appears a group of four or five men broke into the apartment and demanded cash and personal items from the residents.

The group managed to take some items and one of the suspects then stabbed one of the residents in the chest. The 19-year-old male was taken to hospital but police say he is expected to recover.

Police arrested one of the suspects shortly after the incident. Investigators believe the incident was drug-related and the suspect and victim know each other.

Slaunwhite was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
