As Halifax police continue to investigate a brazen abduction attempt in the city’s south end, more information has come to light about the homeowner.

Investigators were back on the scene Wednesday, searching the waterfront property on Oakland Road, and talking to the homeowners.

Bradley Langille is well known in the mining industry. He owns the sprawling, modern home which overlooks the Northwest Arm.

When an armed man entered the home Tuesday morning and tried to force Langille out, he managed to fight the suspect off.

He tells CTV News he and his family are doing OK, but says it was upsetting, especially considering he has small children.

As for what happened, Langille says he didn’t recognize the suspect, as he was wearing a mask at the time of the incident.

There is a public wharf located next to Langille’s property.

Langille says there have been problems with people hanging out at the wharf at night and doing drugs, although he doesn’t know if that has anything to do with the attempted abduction.

There are security cameras on the property, but police aren’t commenting on what they may have captured.

They also won’t say how the suspect was scared off or who was home at the time, but they don’t believe the incident was a random act.

“We don’t believe that the victim knew the suspect, but the suspect knew who he was looking for,” says Const. Pierre Bourdages.

A weapon has yet to be recovered and police are still searching for a suspect.

He is described as a white man with a slim build. He is roughly six-feet-tall and wore a black mask, black jacket and dark, baggy pants at the time of the incident.
