More court appearances have been held related to the death of Baylee Wylie; the 18-year-old whose body was discovered on December 17th of last year, following a fire in an apartment unit in Moncton.
Zachary Sean Holden, 18, of Moncton was in court Monday. He is facing four charges, including accessory to murder after the fact.
After some confusion, Holden waived all rights to a preliminary hearing, electing to have the Court of Queen’s Bench hear his case on August 9th.
His lawyer has not been present for many of the proceedings, including the one held on Monday, bouncing Holden’s case between Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench.
The second man arrested in connection with Baylee Wylie’s death, Bradley Bonnel of Moncton, was sentenced earlier to time served on similar charges.
Tyler Noel also appeared on Monday to set a trial. He is charged with first-degree murder in the Moncton teen’s death.
Wylie’s mother Amanda did not appear in court Monday morning, after breaking down multiple times during Noel’s preliminary hearing back in May.
Devin Morningstar will be the first of the three people charged with first-degree murder and arson to go to trial. Eight weeks have been set aside for him starting October 18th.
Marissa Shephard has also been charged with first-degree murder and arson. She will face a preliminary inquiry starting in May of 2017.
Shephard spent ten weeks on the run from police after Wylie’s body was discovered. She was then arrested in Moncton on March 1st.
Noel will appear back in court on Tuesday to deal with lesser charges related to theft and possession of a firearm.
