It’s dumping day in many parts of Nova Scotia.
About a dozen lobster boats left Eastern Passage early Tuesday to set their traps.
The boats are part of a fleet of about 1,700 vessels licensed to fish lobster in an area that stretches from Digby County around to Halifax.
Some fishermen told CTV News they are happy to be back in the water, but wish they were getting a better price.
“I don’t know, the buyers tell you there’s no markets…I think they could pay more than $3.50. A $5 lobster shouldn’t go below that,” says lobster fisherman Tom Henneberry.
“Operating costs, your fuel, you know, your expenses and everything and then to have a crew.”
Dumping day normally takes place on the last Monday of November, but it was delayed for 24 hours due to high winds.
