The young woman accused of first-degree murder in the death of a Moncton teen is now facing a new charge.

Marissa Shephard is accused of assaulting a correctional officer at the Atlantic Institution in Renous, N.B., in late July.

Shephard will be back in court later in November for election and plea.

The 21-year-old is currently awaiting a preliminary inquiry into the death of Baylee Wylie last December, after his body was found in a burned out apartment building.

One of her co-accused, Devin Morningstar, was convicted of first-degree murder and arson last week. During the trial, the court heard Wylie had been stabbed up to 200 times.
