An event like the Tall Ships is a big undertaking and relies heavily on volunteers, who work tirelessly behind the scenes.
Brent Hobson has been donating his time to the event since 2000 and acts as the head of Tall Ships liaison officers.
Brent has between 50 and 60 staff members who are assigned to the various ships. The staff meet the ship on arrival and act as a liaison between the crew and various departments throughout the duration of the event.
“From the time the ships arrive, to the time the ships leave, we’re basically on 24/7,” says Brent.
Brent says the liaison position is one of the best places to volunteer because you are right at the centre of the event.
“There is a plethora of fun that happens all weekend,” says Brent.
This is Brent’s fifth Tall Ships.
