A 53-year-old New Brunswick man has been sentenced to three years in prison for sex offences involving children.

The RCMP began investigating James Nash in January after receiving a report that he had been involved in sexual interference with two young children.

Police say the incidents happened between June 2013 and January 2015 in the Doaktown area.

Nash was arrested on Jan. 11. He pleaded guilty on June 8 to 10 charges of sexual interference and six charges of invitation to sexual touching.

He appeared Tuesday in Miramichi provincial court, where he was sentenced to three years in prison.

Police say he will be on the National Sex Offender Registry for life.
