FREDERICTON -- Premier Brian Gallant says it's too early to say how the province will respond to a court ruling that says New Brunswick's liquor regulation violates the free trade provisions of the Constitution.
He says the ruling is being analyzed, but it would not be appropriate to say anything more about the case during the 30-day appeal period.
On Friday, a judge tossed out all charges against Gerard Comeau, who was charged with illegally importing 14 cases of beer and three bottles of liquor from a Quebec border town in 2012.
The Liquor Control Act limits anyone from having more than 12 pints of beer not sold by a provincially licensed liquor outlet.
Public Safety Minister Stephen Horsman says it's too soon to say whether the Act will be amended.
In the meantime, he says the law remains in effect, but he won't tell police forces how they should enforce it.
