HALIFAX -- The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia is being given $1.6 million in provincial funding, which will be distributed to various community organizations across the province.

The province announced Friday that the money is designed to provide more mental health and addictions support.

The Mental Health Foundation will be responsible for distributing the money to community organizations in form of $25,000 grants.

The Foundation will begin accepting online applications on Monday, and says applications will be reviewed by an independent committee and will be assessed based on whether they address a unique need, empower positive change, or promote recovery and reintegration for people living with mental illness and addiction.
