The Nova Scotia Fracking Resource and Action Coalition and other environmental groups are pushing for a ten-year moratorium on fracking.
According to them, the suspension would give the province enough time to draft appropriate regulations and establish adequate monitoring of the extraction process.
Nova Scotia is in the midst of reviewing its policies while New Brunswick is moving ahead with new regulations.
