Halifax Regional Police are investigating a third alleged sexual assault involving a taxi driver in the past two weeks.
Police say the victim was picked up by the cab on Lacewood Drive between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on July 15.
They allege the man stopped the vehicle on Sherwood Street and when the woman asked how much she owed, the man said he was having issues with his meter and it would take a few minutes to fix.
The victim told police that the taxi driver then tried to kiss the woman while she was waiting to pay. He allegedly locked the door and touched her in a sexual manner without her consent.
The victim was able to get out of the cab and go to a friend’s home.
The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern male, five-foot-seven, mid-to-late 30s, with short dark hair, an unshaven face and a prominent nose.
The victim says he spoke with an accident and wore strong cologne.
His vehicle is believed to be an older-model four-door white car with a roof light.
Police say the incident happened on July 15 and was reported four days later.
Officers are investigating whether the incident is connected to recent alleged sexual assaults involving Halifax taxi drivers.
Anyone with information on the incident or the driver is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
