Police were back on a property in Cape Breton where a man went missing over a year ago.
Kenny MacNeil had been living in his trailer behind his brother John in Leitches Creek, N.S. when he disappeared.
“We want to find out where Kenny’s at,” said John. “We have to have some type of closure. It’s heart-wrenching, to say the least.”
John says his brother wouldn’t venture far without letting someone know.
“He certainly would have contacted someone in the family, so there may have been foul play,” said John.
Const. David Vokey with the Cape Breton Regional Police says search and rescue returned to MacNeil's home, hoping for a break in the case.
“The family came across this area of importance to them and they felt it should have another look – and we agreed,” he said.
John says he’ll be removing the mobile home from his property.
“Every night I get up, I’m up two or three times a night,” he said. “I'm looking out the kitchen window just to see if I can see a light on or any kind of remnants of Kenny at all. It kind of haunts me.”
Kenny had health issues, which his brother says would have made him an easy target for anyone who wanted to take advantage of him.
The family hopes someone will come forward with information.
“All we have in this world is hope,” said John. “We loved him and we hope we can see him again.”
Police and search and rescue say they will be on the scene here for the next two days.
A $500 reward is being offered if Kenny is found.
