Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who told a nine-year-old boy to get into his vehicle in Clayton Park Tuesday afternoon.

Halifax Regional Police say between 3 and 3:15 p.m., a man in a black four-door sedan approached the boy, who was walking along the first block of Carrington Place.

“The man pulled his vehicle over, rolled down the window and yelled at the boy to ‘get in the car,’” Halifax Regional Police said in a news release.

Police say the boy ran towards his sister who was walking ahead of him and told her what happened.

The pair ran home and told their parents, who then contact police.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early 20s with a slim build and a goatee.

He was wearing an earring in one of his ears and a T-shirt with a sweater over it.

Officers are looking to speak with the man about the incident. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact Halifax Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
