Three shale gas protesters were arrested on Monday in connection with a court injunction that was issued Friday.

SWN Resources was granted the court injunction, which bans protesters from coming within 20 metres of any shale gas testing equipment.

A small group of protesters gathered at the Moncton Industrial Park where the company has been keeping its thumper trucks.

RCMP allege the protesters were within 20 metres of equipment owned by SWN Resources, which is in violation of the court order, resulting in the arrest of one man and two women.

They are due in court on Tuesday to face charges of breaching a court order.

The injunction is in place until midnight on Dec. 2, when the company says it will complete shale gas testing in New Brunswick.

Crews also installed geophones under the watchful eye of police officers along Highway 11, while protesters gathered at an undisclosed location to discuss strategy.

As shale gas exploration continues in the province, opponents insist they will continue to stop it, despite the order from the court to keep their distance.

“We’re not going to be back off,” says protester Louis Jerome. “We’re still going to fight for this…I’m not alone. We’re a lot of people starting to get angry with this.”

Police say they will continue to monitor the testing sites for the safety of the public and to prevent damage to the exploration equipment.
