Two 19-year-old men are facing charges after four summer homes were destroyed by fire in Cape Breton.

The RCMP were called to a suspicious structure fire on St. Columba Road in Iona, N.S. around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

While on scene, police learned of another structure fire on St. Columba Road and two others on MacKinnon Road, all of which had started around the same time.

Police say all four structures were summer homes – one of which was built last year – and all four burned to the ground.

The investigation prompted police to search a home in Whitney Pier, N.S., where they arrested two men – one from Sydney and one from Little Narrows, N.S. – Tuesday evening.

They are due to appear in Sydney provincial court Thursday to face four counts each of break and enter and four counts each of arson.

The accused remain in custody, pending the court appearance.

The incidents remains under investigation and police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
