A fourth person has been charged in connection with the shooting death of 20-year-old Brandon Lewis Hatcher.
Police arrested 24-year-old Sarah Marie Oakley at a college campus in Dartmouth Wednesday around 1 p.m.
Oakley is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court Thursday to face a charge of accessory after the fact.
Police responded to a call of an injured man in the 100 block of Lavender Walk in Spryfield just before 9 p.m. on December 3, 2010.
When they arrived on the scene, they discovered Hatcher suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax where he died.
They determined Hatcher had been gunned down with a high-powered weapon.
Police charged three people in connection with the shooting earlier this year but one of the charges has since been dropped
Cody Alexander Muise, 21, and a 17-year-old boy who can't be named both face a charge of first-degree murder.
Police believe the suspects and victim were known to each other and that the shooting is related to an ongoing drug war between rival gangs in the Spryfield area.
"We believe there's an association of some sort…that would involve an ongoing dispute, that would be tied to the criminal and drug subculture, and again it was not a random incident," Sgt. Brian Palmeter told CTV back in March when the first arrest was made.
Investigators say the recent charges have disrupted the activities of the two gangs in the area, as they believe the people charged are at the top of the street level of a gang.
