HALIFAX -- A collection of artwork by famed American photographer Annie Leibovitz is being donated to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia as part of a permanent exhibition.

The work by the celebrity portrait photographer has been given to the Halifax gallery from the Al and Faye Mintz family.

It includes images that were published in 10 books beginning in 1983.

The 63-year-old New York photographer was regularly featured in Vanity Fair magazine and some of her celebrated work includes portraits of a naked and pregnant Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg in a milk-filled tub and the Queen.

Leibovitz was facing serious financial problems in 2009 but managed to avoid bankruptcy.

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is the largest art museum in Atlantic Canada.
