A three-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Dartmouth Monday morning.

Police responded to the collision at the intersection of Lakefront Road and Portland Street before 8 am.

Investigators say the boy and a 23-year-old woman were crossing Portland Street in a marked crosswalk when the child was hit by a vehicle travelling east on Portland Street.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 23-year-old male driver was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The ticket carries a fine of $693.95 and four points on a driver’s licence upon conviction.
