A teen is facing numerous firearms charges after police surrounded a Dartmouth home early Thursday morning.

Officers with the Emergency Response Team responded to a weapons complaint on Lahey Road just after midnight.

Police say a 35-year-old woman called to say a 15-year-old boy had left a home with a firearm. Officers checked the area for the teen but they failed to locate him.

Police say they found the suspect inside a residence on Lahey Road at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and arrested him at the scene.

Officers executed a search warrant at the home and recovered a replica firearm.

The 15-year-old Dartmouth teen is due to appear in youth court Friday to face numerous charges, included firearms offences, uttering threats and assault.

Police say no one was injured and the incident was not a random act as the parties involved are known to one another.
