Cemetery managers in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia are hoping people will keep their dogs off the property or at least on leash and pick up after them.

There have been some complaints about dogs leaving behind a mess and even running loose and jumping up on people, interrupting burial ceremonies.

The Cobequid Trail sits right beside the Bible Hill cemetery. Charles White walks his dogs on the trail, but says he’s appalled by those who let their dogs run loose among the headstones.

“It’s really kind of a disgusting thing,” says White. “I’d be mortified if I ever thought one of my dogs was over there.”

A sign on the fence asks for dog owners to treat the property with respect, although it doesn't specifically ban them from the property.

Dog owners are encouraged to take their pets to an off leash dog park a few minutes away in Truro.
