A building at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax remains closed today due to flooding.

The flood has affected the fifth floor down to the basement in the east wing of the Bethune Building at the Victoria General site.

Rooms are covered in two centimetres of water in some areas.

The building houses mostly administrative offices. No clinics or in-patient areas have been affected by the flood.

Officials say the water started flowing Monday after a cap on a fresh-water pipe came off.

The building will remain closed Tuesday while crews soak up the water and assess the air quality.
