Four people are facing charges after Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint in Clayton Park Monday afternoon.

Police were called to an apartment building on Caxton Close around 12:50 p.m. Monday.

The superintendent told police he had been investigating a noise complaint in the building when he heard what he believed was a firearm being manipulated inside one of the units.

Police were preparing to make contact with the people inside when three men exited the unit. They were taken into custody without incident.

A woman inside the apartment was also arrested and taken into custody.

While searching the area, police say the officers found an assault rifle and ammunition on the grass directly below the apartment in question.

Jordan Andrew Buffett, 29, of Halifax, Mason Lorne James Dunphy, 29, of Halifax, Joshua William Charchuk, 28, of Dartmouth and Courtney Elizabeth Slaunwhite, 26, of Lower Sackville each face multiple weapons charges and one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

Buffett has also been charged with one count of breaching a probation order.

All four are due to appear in Halifax provincial court on Wednesday.
