Join the hosts of CTV Morning Live for the 20th anniversary of the region’s largest New Year’s Eve gathering – Greco Party on the Parade. It’s a free, two-and-a-half hour concert in Halifax’s Grand Parade featuring high-energy entertainers from around the Maritimes.
The show features a diverse range of music - from mainstream to Motown, headlined by a rising star on the Canadian music scene - New Brunswick- born David Myles.
This year alone Myles won a JUNO for Rap Recording of the Year for “Inner Ninja” – a tune he collaborated on with hip hop artist Classified - while also picking up a nomination for Folk Recording of the Year from the East Coast Music Association - and that’s just a fraction of the accolades he’s racked up in 2013.
Warming up the crowd at 9:30 pm is Willie Stratton & The Boarding Party. Folk music takes a pounding in the hands of Willie and his band. These guys sweep across the musical landscape like wildfire - scorching everything in their wake.
Picking up where Willie leaves off is Blueberry Grunt. The band has been return guests to the Party on the Parade several times over its 20 years history. It might be the band’s energy or highly-recognizable playlist but Blueberry Grunt is the best musical treat you’ll find in our region.
Counting down to the New Year will be Asia and NuGruv. This party band features a five-piece rhythm section, horn players and background vocalists - wrapped around the power-house vocals of lead singer Asia. From R&B and Soul to Classic Motown and Funk, these guys will keep the party rocking in the Grand Parade until 12:30 am.
Hosted by CTV Morning Live’s Heidi Petracek, Tina Simpkin and Cyril Lunney, Greco New Year's Eve has become a go-to event for families in our region and the soundtrack to many Maritime house parties.
The festivities get underway at 9:30 p.m. in Halifax’s Grand Parade while the broadcast starts at 10 p.m. on CTV Two.
