A police K9 unit was deployed on a man who allegedly had a firearm near the QEII hospital.
Halifax Regional Police responded to the area after receiving a call of a man with a gun on Bell Road.
The police dog was deployed on the 18-year-old man, who was later taken into custody.
Police say the firearm is believed to be a replica handgun.
There were no reported injuries during the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
