Halifax Regional Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a home in Spryfield.

Police responded to the blaze at a home in the 100 block of Williams Lake Road around 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters were already on scene and had extinguished the fire before the officers arrived.

No one was injured.

Police believe an accelerant was used to the start the fire. They say two people wearing dark-coloured hoodies were seen fleeing the area on foot, headed in the direction of Purcells Cove Road.

Officers and a K9 unit searched the area but failed to locate the suspects.

While investigating the fire, police executed a search warrant at the home and seized a firearm and ammunition as well as a bulletproof vest and a sensory irritant.

Police say two men have been taken into custody for questioning.
