HALIFAX -- Police in Halifax are warning business owners about a potential fraud targeting debit machines.

Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity involving two well-dressed men along the 2400 block of Agricola Street on Friday.

Police say the pair entered a business and said they represented a debit machine company before asking questions about the store's machines.

The store manager became suspicious and asked the men to leave, but police say they later approached three other businesses in the area.

The men were turned away in each case.

Police suspect the men were looking to install devices on the debit machines that would allow them to intercept customer information.
