NORTH RUSTICO, P.E.I. - With little more than a week before P-E-I's lobster season opens, fishermen are wondering what they'll earn for their catch.
Captain Norman Peters has been fishing lobster out of North Rustico for more than 50 years.
He says fishermen have to get at least four-dollars a pound to turn a profit.
The lobster industry has been plagued by poor prices.
Last month, fisheries ministers from the Maritimes said they hope to introduce a levy to market the industry by the end of the year.
The levy would see fishermen and the onshore side of the industry each pay one cent per pound of lobster caught to help market their product.
It was proposed last November by a three-member panel that reviewed the lobster industry.
It's estimated about 2.5-million dollars a year could be collected through the levy.
