More complaints are pouring in over Post Tropical Storm Arthur cleanup operations in the region.

Power crews are being more proactive about cutting and trimming trees and branches near power lines, but some New Brunswickers have discovered those crews are only removing debris from the site if the utility initiated the job.

Some complain they’ve been left a big mess to clean up afterward.

“In the past I had used them, and they cleaned up everything, so I understood when they say clean up, that part accepted. But I didn’t expect any of this that you see now because it’s ten times worse than Arthur,” says homeowner Vince Botticella.

“When a customer calls us to deal with a tree, that is really their tree that is impacting an NB Power line. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to deal with the trees leftover after that clearing is done,” NB Power’s Deborah Nobes told CTV News.

New Brunswick Power acknowledges complaints, but says crews are going flat out to trim as many trees as possible before the inevitable next storm.
