FREDERICTON -- New Brunswick has signed new collective agreements with three health care unions in the province.

The New Brunswick Nurses Union represents more than 6,000 nurses working in hospitals, public and community health programs, and extra-mural programs.

The government says the four-year agreement includes annual economic wage increases of one per cent and an adjustment to complete the implementation of a joint pay equity study.

Agreements were also signed with two groups represented by the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees.

Roughly 1,850 employees including medical laboratory technologists and respiratory therapists are represented by Medical Science Professionals, while Specialized Health Care Professionals represents 1,550 workers including physiotherapists, pharmacists and social workers.

The five-year agreements for those groups include annual economic wage increases of one per cent and an adjustment tied to the discontinuance of the retirement allowance benefit.
