Halifax Regional Police have confirmed the identity of a man who died after falling into the Halifax Harbour last week.

Police say it appears Kyle David Chambers was sitting on the side of a boardwalk near Lower Water Street when he fell into the water.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 4 p.m. on Aug. 7.

People managed to pull the 35-year-old Halifax man out of the water and into a boat but he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre.

Police say they are still waiting for autopsy results and the cause of death remains under investigation.
