The body of a woman was discovered under a bridge in Coles Island, N.B. on Saturday.
Police have not identified the woman but say she is 57 years old and is from Wickam, N.B.
Two teenage boys found the body in the mostly frozen Cannan River while out geocaching. When they realized what they had found, they ran to a nearby convenience store to call police.
“They told the young man working here that they thought they saw a body in the water, so he left with them to confirm because he didn’t quite believe them,” says Lindsay Morse, who works at the store. “They came running back to the store and they called 911 because there was a person face down in the water.”
The bridge remained completely closed until late Saturday night although police have been keeping watch over the bridge as the investigation continues.
