HALIFAX -- New Brunswick’s Vitalité Health Network has confirmed that 18 of its employees from the Campbellton region (Zone 5) are in isolation and visits to the Campbellton Regional Hospital are cancelled, as the province continues to deal with a COVID-19 outbreak.

On Friday, a spokesperson from Vitalité Health Network confirmed via e-mail that 18 of its employees from the Campbellton region are currently in isolation, either because they have COVID-19 or were found to be close contacts through Public Health’s contact tracing.

New Brunswick has identified 33 new cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday, with 13 of those identified in the Campbellton region (Zone 5)

Effective immediately, all visits to the Campbellton Regional Hospital are cancelled as a precautionary measure, with the exception of:

  • Visits to the Obstetric, Pediatric and Palliative Care (end-of-life) units are restricted to one designated visitor per patient.
  • Visits to patients who will receive medical assistance in dying, is restricted to two designated visitors per patient (one at a time), except in exceptional cases where one of the visitors would require assistance to go to the patient’s bedside.

St. Joseph Community Health Centre in Dalhousie, N.B. is also affected by the outbreak and has announced the following temporary reductions in sevice.

  • Phlebotomy (blood work) services: closed until further notice. Patients who need these services may be directed to the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
  • Walk-In Clinic: open Friday, closed Monday, October 12.
  • Collaborative Practice: closed Friday and Monday, October 12. Patients who need to consult a physician are asked to call Tele-Care (811) or to go to a walk-in clinic.
  • Ambulatory Care Services: in the case that certain ambulatory care services are impacted, the patients directly affected will be contacted to rebook their appointments or direct them to the Campbellton Regional Hospital, as the case may be.  

On Wednesday, Moncton's Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre moved to a higher alert level and suspended visits.
