4-H Canada unveiled a new look Thursday in Fredericton, showcasing their new logo design.

“It’s an historic day for 4-H in Canada, we just unveiled our brand new logo, the first time it’s been changed in about 50 plus years,” says foundation president Randy Mowat.

4-H Canada has been around for over 60 years. In that time, they have grown to almost 25,000 members and nearly 8,000 volunteers across the country.

Mowat says the changes to the logo represent the evolution of the organization.

“We're doing a lot of program changes,” says Mowat. “We're adding a lot of science and math and engineering type disciplines in to our programing, because that's the future of youth, that's where they want to be. We've had to add a lot of technology changes.”

Those involved in the organization say they've noticed a transformation during their time in the program.

“4-H is not the same as when I started when I was nine, to now when I'm 21, so many things have developed and grown,” says youth advisor Erica Jackson.

Jackson says the changes the organization is making will do more to attract young people.

“We're all involved in internet, cell phones, so I really just think that this is the next step to getting more youth involved in 4-H,” says Jackson.

As the organization heads into a new era, members say it will continue to enrich rural communities, just with a new look.
