SACKVILLE, N.B. -- Academic staff have voted in favour of a strike at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick.

The faculty association says 86 per cent of faculty voted in favour of a strike to back contract demands.

Association president Loralea Michaelis says the association, which represents 154 full-time and 56 part-time academic staff, hopes the strike vote will prompt the administration to return to the bargaining table.

Negotiations between the school in Sackville and the association centre on salaries, pensions and benefits, workload and the control faculty have over their teaching and research.

No one from the administration was available for comment.
