The lawyer for Amber Kirwan’s accused killer says his client is not guilty and that’s how he expects him to plea.
Thirty-year-old Chris Falconer of Heathbell, N.S. appeared briefly before a judge Friday morning in Pictou, N.S. to set dates for a preliminary hearing on charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.
Kirwan vanished last October from downtown New Glasgow, N.S. after a night out with her friends. The 19-year-old’s body was found almost a month later in a wooded area near Heathbell in Pictou County.
Her death sparked an intense investigation and shock and sadness in her hometown.
Falconer’s lawyer, Mike Taylor, calls the evidence against his client “speculative”. His preliminary hearing is set to begin February 11, 2013.
