Avery MacRae
Avery MacRae is a video journalist with CTV Atlantic based out of Saint John, N.B.
Avery grew up in the small town of Pefferlaw, Ont., just an hour north of Toronto. He attended the College of Sports Media in 2019, where he earned a diploma in radio and television sports broadcasting and was awarded the distinction of outstanding radio achievement upon graduation.
In 2019, Avery began his career in broadcasting at Sportsnet. He got his first shot on-air as a reporter in Thunder Bay, Ont., with TBT News. Avery filled a variety of roles in front of the camera over his three years on the North Shores of Lake Superior, before settling in as the lead sports anchor. In 2023, Avery moved east to join the CTV Atlantic team.
A fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays, Raptors and Carolina Panthers, Avery is a sports enthusiast. While his skill level may not match his passion for the game, he also enjoys hitting the links as often as he can in the summer.
