A 16-year-old boy is facing charges after he allegedly robbed the same Halifax convenience store twice over the weekend.

Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Needs store on Chebucto Road on Friday and again on Sunday.

In both incidents, a suspect produced what looked like a handgun and demanded cash and cigarettes from the clerk. Police say he then fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

The clerks were not injured during the incidents.

Officers arrested a teen Tuesday evening after he turned himself in at police headquarters. Police also recovered a replica handgun believed to have been used during the robberies.

The teen was held in custody overnight and is due to appear in Halifax provincial youth court to face two counts each of robbery, pointing a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon and uttering threats.
