NORTH TRYON, P.E.I. - A 67-year-old Charlottetown man died today after being struck by a vehicle after he left his car and was trying to have it towed out of a snowbank.

The Mounties say the collision occurred at about 9:45 a.m. during a blizzard near North Tryon, Prince Edward Island.

Staff Sergeant Ken Spencely says a passing driver was pulling a stranded SUV out of a ditch when the car being towed was struck by a pickup truck.

A third vehicle then collided into the rear of the truck.

Spencely says it's not clear which vehicle hit the man.

The female driver of the SUV was taken by paramedics to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police have not released the victim's name.
