AMHERST, N.S. - A family of six was displaced by a fire that extensively damaged their home in Amherst, N.S. late Sunday night.
The couple and four children -- who range in age from one to 10 -- are staying with a relative.
The Canadian Red Cross says volunteers provided blankets, personal-care items and toys for the children.
No one was hurt in the fire, but the mother and one-year-old were checked in hospital for smoke inhalation as a precaution.
A neighbouring home metres away was evacuated as a precaution until the fire was out.
