Snow and freezing rain is making for slippery road conditions across New Brunswick.

The RCMP say they have responded to several reports of vehicles off the roads in Moncton and southeastern New Brunswick due to poor conditions.

They are warning motorists to slow down and use extreme caution when driving on greasy roads and highways.

Route 2 near Moncton was closed to westbound traffic between exits 467 and 446 for about an hour Wednesday. It reopened around 12:30 p.m. but police are warning motorists that it may still be slippery.

Police are also warning motorists to avoid Highway 15 between Moncton and Port Elgin.

Codiac Transpo buses are experiencing delays due to freezing rain and the City of Moncton says sidewalks are icy too. All salt trucks are out in the Moncton area.

There are also reports of blowing snow and whiteout conditions in northern New Brunswick, where some schools are closed.

Schools are closed in the Bathurst, Dalhousie, Campbellton, Chaleur and Restigouche areas. All schools are closed in the Francophone North West School District.
