A Moncton girl is speaking out after her Facebook plea to find a New Brunswick woman wanted for first-degree murder was shared more than 13,000 times.
Jordyn Fleury knew Marissa Shephard, and the now deceased Baylee Wylie, through high school friends. She is encouraging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Shephard to come forward.
"Like me and the 13,000 some others who shared my post - we just want her found," said Fleury.
Fluery shared the Facebook post on Tuesday.
"Honestly, I would just like to see the Wylie family get the peace and closure they deserve,” said Fleury in the post. “I don’t think it's fair for her to be questioning, staying up late, wondering what happened to her son."
Shephard is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. She’s one of five charged in relation to the murder of 18-year-old Wylie, who was found dead after a house fire in Moncton on Dec. 17.
"I don't have one bad thing to say about (Wylie), he was a very happy go-lucky guy."
Fleury says she knew Shephard quite well then - but doesn't know her today. She says it's not her business to know what happened, but it is for the Wylie family.
Fleury hopes someone, somewhere, will come forward with information.
"What they need to realize is that they will see Marissa again someday, but Baylee's gone forever."
The RCMP say they have received “many” tips on Shephard's whereabouts and are following up on each and every one of them.
Const. Julie Rogers Marsh is asking the public to continue sharing photos of Shephard.
"It's important for people to take a look at the pictures of Marissa Shephard that are being circulated online and kind of get a good idea of what she looks like," she said.
Shephard is described as a 5’5”, 100 pound white woman with brown eyes and brown hair. She has a tattoo with the name Stephen on her neck and a tattoo of a crown on her chest.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Shephard is asked to contact Codiac Regional RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
