Friends of a missing New Glasgow woman are offering a $5,000 reward for information on her disappearance. Amber Kirwan, 19, vanished without a trace, one week ago.

More than 100 people from across Pictou County gathered Saturday in a parking lot, wearing green clothes, Amber's favourite colour. They met to form a huge green ribbon in Amber's honour.

"It's all for her, it's all for support," says event organizer Sammi Fralick. "We're all getting together to show that we're still here for her and still looking for her."

Kirwan was last seen leaving Dooly's in New Glasgow around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, October 9. Despite a week-long ground, air and water search around Pictou County, Kirwan has yet to be found.

Friends of the Kirwan family have posted a $5,000 reward, hoping for any information on the girl. People in the community were showing their concern today.

"We don't live in isolation, somebody had to hear something, know something," says business owner Sherri Blinkhorn. "Somebody out there knows something about this, and unfortunately money tends to motivate people."

New Glasgow police and RCMP concentrated part of their search efforts today in the community of Heathbell.

"Throughout the week we received numerous information and tips from the general public," says Constable Ken MacDonald. "As a result, officers and forensic examiners have to follow up on that information and at this point in time, in terms of the location that is one area in question."

Dozens of candles have been placed on a wall near where Amber was last seen. It's where friends will gather tonight, in the hopes of retracing her steps, and renew hope that she will be found soon.
