Halifax Regional Police are still on the scene of a suspicious death at 5529 Bilby Street in the city's north end.

Neighbours felt something was wrong at the home when they noticed hundreds of flies buzzing around the windows of the flat on Sunday.

One neighbour went over Monday to see if everything was OK. As he climbed the outside stairs up to the flat he saw that the door had been left open and a pair of legs was sticking out.

Police arrived at the scene around noon on Monday.

They are calling the death suspicious but have not released many details.

Tenants say the man, whose name has not been released, was in his early 30s and had lived in the upper flat of the two-storey building for more than three years.
