Police say a 33-year-old woman is dead after an alleged domestic violence incident in Rothesay, New Brunswick.
Officers responded to an apartment building in the Dolan Road area around 5 a.m. Wednesday.
They say a 39-year-old man has been arrested and will face charges in the woman’s death.
Police blocked the driveway leading to the apartment building for most of the day.
Investigators have not released any details as to how the woman died and neighbours say they hadn’t heard anything suspicious.
“Never heard anything at all,” says neighbour Janice Collier. “I mean, there only right behind the trees, but not a, not anything I heard at all last night.”
“No, I didn’t hear a thing…saw the police car there when we went out today but that’s all,” says neighbour Gordon Winchcombe.
Both Collier and Winchcombe say the Dolan Road area is a quiet neighbourhood.
“We love it out here actually because nothing really seems to happen,” says Collier. “But I guess, as of today, things have changed. But I have absolutely no idea what’s up.”
“Well, you don’t hear about that kind of thing around here,” says Winchcombe. “We don’t have vandalism or anything here.”
The names of the victim and the suspect are being withheld pending notification of their families.
Police declined to comment on whether children were involved. Investigators have released few details about the case at this time.
